Day 203: Mar 1, 2015
Nothing much to report
other than a relaxing day.
Day 204: Mar 2, 2015
The Sunday of my weekend
was filled with cleaning my room and Settlers of Catan. Over all the
day was pretty good except for when I had to try to figure out
changes in the schedule. Apparently, even though I put up a sheet of
paper asking for requests for the schedule someone felt that they
couldn't write down their request so they asked Stuffi (after I made
the schedule) for the change. So I am switching my weekend around
later in the month so that things work out and I know that the person
who is out right now is going to be pissed at me about the schedule
when she comes back. At least with that one, I can just point her to
the kitchen coordinator. Only five more weeks left in the kitchen.
Day 205: Mar 3, 2015
A good shift and otherwise
boring day.
Day 206: Mar 4, 2015
Vespers was very
interesting today. Originally, it was supposed to be a clown worship
but it ended up being completely different. We talked about creeds
and wrote our own. They were basically “I believe” statements.
Other than that, I went sledding with Jade in the afternoon. It was a
good day.
Day 207: Mar 5, 2015
It is wedding day!!! The
wedding was short but beautiful. Jade was a flower girl and Ben (a
19yr old volunteer) was a flower guy. Shane's 6yr old brother was the
ring bearer and everyone on staff was either a groomsman or
bridesmaid. I thought it was kind of a cool idea to include everyone
that way. After the wedding, I ran back to the kitchen to work to
help feed the masses. At the end of the night, Shane and Meredith
came up to me and the other cooks and gave us shell necklaces from
Hawaii (where Meredith is from). It ended up being a fun but
exhausting night.
Day 208: Mar 6, 2015
I made 200 grilled cheese
today and 80 people came into the village. Lunch was crazy and was
made even more so when 5 gluten free people came in who didn't let us
know ahead of time. That means that we didn't have enough gluten free
grilled cheese which lead to guests coming for the “compassionate
voices” weekend being not so compassionate. A few of them were
understanding but one in particular was really just kind of nasty. I
mean the bus came in almost 45 minutes late and they didn't let us
know ahead of time about their dietary “restrictions”. I can't
cook for you if you don't let me know what you won't eat.
Day 209: Mar 7, 2015
A pretty average Saturday
ending with a viewing of the movie The Secret Life of Walter
Mitty. Originally, it was just
going to be me and Pat but the movie is well loved in our chalet and
word about its quality has spread. That meant that we ended up with
3-4 other people watching with us. It was nice to share the movie
with people who hadn't seen it.
